The Distinct identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has actually cautioned people versus sharing their Aadhar card details to obtain it printed as a smart card.
UIDAI said that Aadhar card details just printed on paper is “completely legitimate”, in a launch on PIB site.
UIDAI cautioned against discussing Aadhar card details with people charging a simple Rs 50 to 200 for printing the details on a plastic card, calling it a smart card. There are others are charging more than that for laminating it.
“The Aadhaar card or the downloaded Aadhaar card published on regular paper is completely valid for all uses. If a person has a paper Aadhaar card, there is definitely no need to get his/her Aadhaar card laminated flooring or get a plastic Aadhaar card or supposed SMART Aadhaar card by paying money. There is no concept such as smart Aadhaar card,” said Director General & Objective Director of UIDAI, Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey.
Aadhar card details are considered valid even if they are printed in black and white, Pandey said.
In case an individual loses his Aadhar card, it can be downloaded from the government site, he added.
However, if you still wish to obtain your Aadhar card laminated , Pandey recommends that it should just be done from the authorized Common Service Centres or Aadhar Permanent Enrollment Centers by paying an amount not surpassing Rs 30.
