Non-Aadhaar cell verification Just for NRIs, visitors
The government is seeking to supply non-Aadhaar based verification for mobile phones only for specific categories, like NRIs and foreign tourists.
It is also seeking to alleviate the verification procedure for those who have Aadhaar card status.
Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan said the authorities had already simplified the process by supplying verification through a one-time password (OTP), program and a voice-recognition system.
Using OTP, subscribers will be able to authenticate telephone numbers that were not mentioned during Aadhar card download registration.
So, multiple mobiles can be confirmed using the cell number registered with Aadhaar.
She also said doorstep confirmation center will be available for senior citizens and the handicapped, besides confirmation across circles.
The measures had been initiated after readers complained of harassment by telecom firms who have opened only a few centers for verification.
Sundararajan stated the procedure for Aadhar card correction based affirmation was falsified by the Supreme Court.
